you can adjust the senseitivity on in the setup of the kit you have to set each on pad to wear to low velocity cut-off is. if you hit the pads softly you get a softer sound than if you hit them hard.

Nice kits, everybody!

Carlos, I really like the look of yours. . . I notice that your toms are set up to the far left. . . is that for a particular reason, or just a habit?

Very nice, Jeffrey - A small kit is a good way to learn to be creative - the really great drummers learn to play in a musically interesting way on any size kit!

What kind of music do you mostly play?

Wow, a 16" thin crash??????? Man, I bet that sucker has a medium {relatively speaking} attack and slow decay?????? {I'll forgive you for cast cymbals, wink , just joking, everyone knows I'm spun only if I have acuostics, but that's another new topic}. How do you think they attack and decay?

Do they seem brighter and/or more responsive? How does the bell seem? Your thoughts could help out other dudes who are thinking of Sabians.

In any case, I'm just being technical, glad you were able to get your upgrade, bro.!!!!!!!!!!

That's nice, jack - I used to have a B8pro splash cymbal - punchy little cymbal wink

I prefer Zildjian, but the new Sabian Legacy or HHX cymbals are pretty nice.

Yeah Tam, the decay is pretty slow slow.
it is punchy, but at the same time, it can be very smooth or soft in terms of attack.

the bell is loud, and cuts through the sound easily.
it is quite responsive if you hit it hard (if that makes sense), but i think thats a good thing when it comes to thin crashes because you can get a very big sound, or a tiny atmospheric sound with the tip of the stick ect.

I think they are really good bronze cymbals.
the ride is probably the best, but the crash is very good as well.
The hi-hats are clean, but do have a slightly cheap sound.
I prefer sabian bronze cymbals to the zildjian and paiste ones i have played on.

I love Sabian AAX cymbals, so they were what inspired me too look for other sabians (mainly cause i cant afford AAXs).

I would recommend these cymbals to anyone looking for a good set of bronze cymbals.

Cool deal!!!!!!!! Glad you like 'em!!!!!!! If I may indulge off your review for a moment, I rather knew the cymbal would have the slow decay due to it's size {for newer drummers who are searching for cymbals}. A general rule of thumb is the the bigger the crash, the slower the decay, not usually important, but it may be a consideration as newer guys/gals get into "their" style and "sound". Thanks, bro, for allowing me to tag off your post for the above!!!

Hi. It took me a couple years to get this together but this is my preferred place to be.

I have no idea if this will work but what the heck.
Mapex Saturn Studio in an 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 with a 22" bass and the 5.5 x 14 for a side snare. Main snare is a Tama artwood custom 6.5" x 13"
I'm running Evans EC2's on tom tops and EC resos on the bottom.
Emad 2 on the bass batter with a Emad reso comin' as the last piece of my dream come true finally.
Evans Power dot revers center on the snare batter (stock)
Cad Pro premium mikes on everything (one in and out on the bass) with a Shure SM57 on the hat and a couple overheads ( I forget what). SM 58 vocal mike. <<no I can't sing worth a darn.
Cymbals consist of Sabian HHX Legacy in a 17 and 18" crash, 10 and 12" splash, 20 and 21" ride with HHX manahtten Jazz hats and a HHX evolution 18" crash on the far right. IC doubles for pedals. Straight pull Tama hat stand, Pearl wood block, SOme kind of rock cowbell, Gibralter rack stuff, Mackie 1642 VLZ3 mixer. It took a lot of starving to get it but I'm where I want to be now. Happy New Year folks!!!!

Nice looking kit, interesting way the large toms are rod-mounted instead of floor-standed. Almost looks as if you adapted a e-kit mounting to use with them, or is that some specific Mapex hardware?

Wow, great kit, DeepDrummer! Yes, I'm curious about the mounting, too. . . does a rack like that increase the resonance of the drums over the conventional stand-mounting?

Welcome back, btw.

i didn't touch a drumstick for 22 years, and was talked into it again by my best friend who was tired of playing his bass by himself. now find myself in a band
http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cf...mageID=15301970

this was a couple of old westbury kits i picked up real cheap ($150 for all the drums including yamaha snare) & with a little refinishing, looked a lot better than they sounded LOL

since the band thing, i am working 2 kits, depending on the venue

[img]http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cf...mageID=31934150

this is my sonor force 1007 stage 2 kit and my sonor 507 4 pc kit for smaller places and travelling to jams. newer & more plentiful cymbals aren't shown

sure do hope i get this drum thing down soon

I've recently decided to try out the ddrum waters. The price just can't be beat! I'm currently trying out a new AMX 7 piece kit. I switch out the snare with Pork Pie snares.

This is my converted Ludwig element kit. I wanted electric drums that looked and felt like acoustics so I built these...

That is amazing!

Very sweet looks, and I assume the triggers do an admirable job?

There was a post on here a while back by a guy who converts huge acoustic kits into electric - will have to see if I can find that.

Ya, the triggers work great. I have seen pics of Pearl's new electrics and thought they looked nice, I have been hearing very lack luster reports about them though. The brain is a version of Alesis's DM10 that has been modified for Pearl and I hear people are not happy with it compared to the original DM10, and that the kit is poorly built.

I dont really care for the e-pros cause like you said rolanddrummer roland is the best electric drums they should have connected a roland brain to it and ta-da there you have a nice kit but the e-pro you can take off the eletric heads and put on regular heads and you have another acoustic kit

@Jdog! To show my drums and support for those who only have e drums. They are the future!!!!

Those patterns are tricky, you get them from roland but you have to edit them so they loop evenly otherwise you can only play to them once...

Pretty cool looking kit..Do you like the B8's and the ZBT's for quality and sound ?

I like Zildjian for my crashes, that's it. I find the B8's have more gearth and come through better for my hats, but I wanna upgrade them to AA soon.

Please dont take offence to this but I just always thought the B8 series and the ZBT's were the starter or beginner line of cymbals for those two manufactures.. But its really all about sound and what your looking for a name really doesnt really matter if its the sound that you want or need..

Yea, they are, but there's nothing wrong them. They sound fine. The crashes my be a bit clanky for the B8 because they're so thick, but the old ride and the hi-hats are perfectly fine. The only reason I got my HH ride is because it was pre-owned for $60.

I'm just getting my money's worth out of them. I play them until they break, then upgrade to more more pro-level gear. My 18 inch just got a crack, so I'll be going to pick up and A custom 18' sometime soon.

Yea, I hear Ya.. Like I said dont take it the wrong way..I did the same thing when building my 22 Piece Pearl. It took years to get exactly what I wanted.. and its all about the sound that your looking for.. having a brand name doesnt make you any better drummer..

I prefer not to play super nice drums, that way I have an excuse to suck, LOL!!! You know, "blame it on the drums" smile You sit behind a custom kit, there's no excuses, it's all you baby!

14x10 floor (g2 bat, g1 reso)
16x10 floor (g2 bat, g1 reso)

all in black with black hardware

cymbals:
14" medium xs20 hihats
8" stagg dh splash
16" aax-plotion crash
16" aa metal-x crash
18" unknown ride
18" pst5 china
6" stagg black metal bell

pedals are big dog doubles (dont know the name but there stiff as hell)
